St.Andrews Timber and ERS Gold
St.Andrews Timber and ERS Gold
St.Andrews Timber & Building supplies were honoured to receive the gold award through the ERS scheme. Find out what the ERS scheme is and why we were awarded gold below!
Every year the MOD (Ministry Of Defence) hands out awards to civilian organisations that go above & beyond in supporting and recruiting members or ex-members of the British armed forces. Last year, St.Andrews Timber West (which refers to our Paisley depot) was honoured with a gold award. The gold award is the highest award a civilian organisation can obtain.
This year, the East followed suit, and was nominated for their gold award! This was due to extensive efforts to implement policies that promote active recruitment and support to reservists, veterans and their families. These policies involve attending recruitment fares in which armed forces members attend, signing the armed forces covenant, helping with fundraisers, attending advice seminars, and offering flexible contracts to reservists wishing to join our company.
What is involved at the Gold ERS awards ceremony
The gold awards are presented at Edinburgh Castle. The night consists of a meal in one of the ceremony rooms where countless kings & queens of the ages have dined in luxury. We meet the members of the armed forces whom we have helped to support this year. There is also various speeches from high ranking members of the armed forces, and those whom helped to set up the ERS scheme. The night is finished off with the award ceremony in which all gold award recipients receive their award. We were delighted and honoured to receive the gold award. A massive well done to all the other organisations who also picked up their gold award.
